Don’t overlook the little guys that pack and ship for you
SOMETIMES, HARDWORKING MEN AND WOMEN AT FULFILLMENT CENTERS GET OVERLOOKED BY PEOPLE IN CHARGE. ALL DAY, THEY PACK AND SHIP YOUR PRODUCTS, THEN GO HOME TO WATCH A LITTLE TV AND SPEND TIME WITH THEIR FAMILIES. THEIR LIVES ARE MORE SIMPLE THAN YOU AND I CAN PROBABLY IMAGINE, BUT THEIR WORK IS DUTIFUL, ALMOST AS NOBLE AS MILITARY SERVICE IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT. WHAT WOULD AN ANT COLONY BE WITHOUT IT’S WORKER BEES?
In Arizona, minimum wage is pretty average, yet the hardworking men and women atPhoenix fulfillment service centers are far from average. Sit down and talk with a few and they’ll give you all the gory details of their forklift training classes or their favorite television shows on Fox. These are real men and women, not just Joe Schmoes from down the street. They’re the ones working for less and less every year, paying more in taxes more and more each year and because of that, those jobs aren’t going overseas to Asian countries.
So where do you come in? Be respectful and grateful. If you visit an Arizona distribution center, just give the little guys a little nod and ask them about their day. Or remember birthdays and anniversaries. At least send a card, perhaps one that you can pass around the office for everyone to sign. That will build loyalty within your company, but most of all, respect. These guys and gals sorting your boxes dream of becoming like you one day. And with your mutual understanding, maybe they will.
